The Army Gold Medal was instituted in 1810. A large version was awarded to Generals and a smaller size to field rank officers. The name of the battle was engraved on the reverse, with further actions denoted by a clasp. If over three clasps were won, the medal and clasps were exchanged for the Army Gold Cross. The medal and cross were replaced in 1814 by the Companion of the Bath. Our replication is a military miniature size.
